leadership
Queen Victoria, 1894
Leadership is a subject which is often neglected, we assume that all organizations, except our own, is intelligently guided to make the best decisions, that we are negotiating with supermen and women. However we need to pay close attention to the way in which leadership is exercised in the organizations we are dealing with - and to understand our own organization.
Effective leadership
requires that the alignment of behaviour of the leader with the organization's
model and zeitgeist. Thus an effective soldier requires a different view of
the world from someone running a nursery school or a hospital.
There are a number of "models" of leadership - but they are all
essentially attempts to develop an effective metaphor for describing how leadership
functions.
